Diets don’t work, but cooking does…
Research consistently shows that diets don’t work and can actually predict future weight gain.
Cooking, on the other hand, is linked with increased consumption of fruit and vegetables, improved psychological well-being, lower BMI, and higher dietary quality.
Clients don’t need more diets, they need to engage with food differently by touching it, tasting it, and feeling the confidence that comes from cooking it themselves.
As nutrition professionals, we are uniquely positioned to guide them. Cooking isn’t just an extra skill, it’s often the missing piece that actually changes behaviors.
The world needs more RDs, nutritionists, and health coaches in the kitchen.
Are you ready to be one of them?
Since 2011, I’ve been teaching — yoga, nutrition, mindful eating, and of course cooking. Teaching cooking has always been the most transformative part of my work, and also my absolute favorite.
But I had to figure so much out on my own.
If you’d rather skip that part, this resource is the one I wish I had when I started — step-by-step blueprints, guides, done-for-you tools, and insider tips so you can confidently incorporate culinary nutrition into your practice and truly change lives.
Why Food School?
About the founder…
I’m Shauna McQueen, MS, RD, chef, yoga instructor, and corporate Director of Nutrition & Well-being. Over the last decade, I’ve built culinary nutrition programs for employees at companies some of the biggest tech and finance companies out there.
But the work I’m most passionate about is helping Registered Dietitians build true culinary confidence so they can move beyond meal plans and handouts and use cooking to help clients reconnect with food in a more sustainable, meaningful, and long-lasting way.
I teach RDs how to step into the kitchen with confidence, clarity, and a plan and to use cooking as a powerful, evidence-based tool for lasting behavior change.
